And here's the final kick-in-the-nads...a max of only $55!...not $94

OM Policy:

"If you find a lower price at any office product superstore on a new identical item, just show us the lower price when you buy the item at OfficeMax or within 14 days after your OfficeMax purchase and we'll give you 115% of the difference (up to $55.00)."

Good thing someone is paying attention. LOL I did not even notice that.

Welcome to Spoofee

another thing Officemax will not price match anyways because they factor in the rebate with the pricematching. I have tried this before with other items and they will not back down. :(

OfficeMax.com 115% Low Price Guarantee

"Other Discounts: Available coupons and rebates will be deducted from the OfficeMax price to come up with a new OfficeMax price when calculating the price match. For example, if you buy an item from us for $100 and we offer a $10 rebate, the net price is $90. If the item is available from another company for $90 or more, there will be no price match. Another example would be if you buy an item from us for $139 and you have a $30 coupon; the net price is $109. If the item is available from another company for $105 the price match will be for $4.60 (115% of the difference)."

How does the quality/reliability of this printer rate.

I have the older model - the 1250 which is my first laser printer and by far the best printer I've ever owned. At least 1 1/2 years on the starter cartridge with no end in sight. About 15 seconds to warm up then it spits out pages at photocopier speeds. Do a 30 page owner manual in maybe 5 minutes. Claimed capacity on starter is 2000 pages (at 5%)

Perfect output 100% of the time. No banding, no running out of ink, no dried up ink. No drama.

Not worth getting a new cartridge when it runs out as the whole printer on rebate is less than a cartridge. I did have trouble with the Minolta software and I just use the default Win xP software instead.

Note: cartridge is e-chipped and it appears impossible to override the low level warning. CArtridge is easily refillable from Ebay suppliers as long as you don't let it go into low level mode. (Or so I have read - haven't run out of toner yet).I don't like the envelope feed and you will screw up a few envelopes 'til you get the hang of it.

BTW

I tried a few low cost COLOR laser printers recently at the $400, and $500 price points. My opinion is they are incredible.

I printed some sample photos and I was floored. This is clearly the future. To the h*ll with inkjets. They are still going for more than I'm willing to pay but when they get to the $200 price point I'll jump in.

You disregarded the second sentence of the above policy...
If you find a lower price advertised by any other store within 14 days after your purchase from OfficeMax, we'll refund the difference. Simply bring in the competitor's ad.

They will thus give you the difference between $179 and $99. The $55 refers to the 115 % price guarantee, not the price match.

Also I see on the web site they are offering the deal both with and without the shredder. Either get the bare printer or get the shredder too and attempt that price match.

I don't see why this deal won't work. BTW...Even though the printer was out of stock my buddy asked one of the local stores to ship one in . He's picking it up in the AM.

PRICE MATCH = SUCCESSFUL!

First store: Wouldn't do it because they said their 'after rebate' price was the same. Then they showed me an email dated this morning specifying that they are NOT to price match no matter what the circumstance.

Second Store: Looked at receipt, looked at Staples circular, called over manager, manager shrugged and said "looks like there's no rebate on the Staples one" and...

Cha-ching -- 115% Master Card refund of $97.53

Total spent now = $93 (after tax)
Total price after rebates = $13 (after tax)

SPOOOOOOFEEEEE DEAL!

Good to see someone got in on it... Congrats :claps:

The rebate form mentions nothing about sending in the receipt... that is very strange...

I would still send it in, atleast a copy.

Worked out for me too, but they gave me an "exchange" and not a "pricematch".

So my total came to $99.98 - $80 + Tax = $28.25 After Rebate

Still an awesome deal! Thanks Spoofee!

I also think the rebate form that prints out IS the receipt too. At the top of the form, it looks like a duplicate of our receipt.

I got an exchange too. It was funny how the manager told me "oh, I just did this pricematch." This was 30 minutes after the store opened. She has a lot more coming. LOL

Aw man, I was turned down - they knew exactly what was going on. In case any of you are in NY City, don't bother trying this at the Brooklyn Office Max.

I am going to send in the original receipt just to be safe. They didn't write anything on it. Sending that, along with the original rebate receipt and UPC should be all good. I tried doing it online but it directed me to PRINT out and mail in a form anyway, so I guess you can't submit it online.

DaveG, should be fair game to send the old rebate + receipt.

It would make sense if you
1. purchased the printer for 180
2. mailed in the $80 rebate...
3. Then you saw the ad that the printer is going for $100.
4. Went for a pricematch..

so it makes sense for you to mail in the rebate with the old receipt.

I've been following this thread, and have bought one of these last week, and price matched it with 115% of the difference on sunday. I was doing the rebate and instead of cutting the box, carefully pealed the barcode sticker off, and was about to send it in when I noticed there was another bar code on the other side...
Which one did you guys send in?

That is great!!!
I am going to try it this week. Hope i have as much luck as you did!!!!
