Black Friday: The Aftermath

Spoofee... I waited 45 minutes in line to get that DVD Rom at Office Max, went to the wrong place to get it, and worst of all, they only had 10. I missed out by around 10 seconds :( Although... I got the Altec Lansing ATP3 for $19.99 after rebate (now on Staples for $89.99) w00t. Also, I got the asylum ti4200 geforce 128mb vid card for $89.99, some paper..... and some other stuff I can't remember. And spoofee, I would REALLY like that DVD rom :P If ya don't want it I'll give ya $20 for it (u can send in the rebate and stuff). Also, if anyone has TOO many CD-Rs, I'm running low, and forgot to buy some when I waited in line at Best Buy for 45 minutes (went at 6:30 AM). I got some pretty nice stuff though.

You're running low on cdrs?

Man, there are always so many FAR or $2-3 AR deals on cdrs, it's amazing we don't trip and die over all of them. And gotta love how fuji's seem to always have rebates at BB, which is nice since they are often TY's.

Check bestbuy or staples, everytime I turn around they are having good deals with free shipping.

heh, I'm cashless now after last friday.....

sevenal - I bought those Altec Lansing Speakers online for $20 after rebate (used the $10 off $50 coupon also) :D I NEED A CD BURNER!!!! ANYONE FEEL LIKE GIVING ME A GOOD DEAL?!?! :P

CC has a cendyne 48X burner for $80 with around $50 in rebates. If you use MSN wallet you get $16 as bonus (Not cash back but bonus MSN dollars and i don't know how MSN would let u use it). So you are looking $30 or potentially $14 with MSN dollars. If you have AMEX card with BVG you can probably BVG it here to get an additional $10 from Amex which makes it $4.00 potentailly.

I went to Office Max the Wednesday before BF. Got the DVD/VCR and was able to use 30$ off $150 competitor's coupon. So this GoVideo deck will cost 70$ plus tax after rebate since I returned it Friday and bought it back at the sale price.( I did this at about 11am.) I also went to Best Buy on Wednesday night and bought the Geforce4 4200 card then returned it before 11 am so I could buy back at sale price. No wait and no hassle.

BVG=Best Value Guarantee, or something like that. In otherwords, it's a pricematch guarantee, if you see it cheaper elsewhere, or say the store itself sells it cheaper within a certain period of time. Some stores do this, but also so do some credit cards also have this guarantee built into anything bought with them, anywhere. Just as some credit cards also have automatic extended warrantys built into them for anything bought with them.

one last thing...

don't forget to send those rebates!

rebates.jpg

Most of them have a 2 week period to be postmarked.

I sent out 17 envelopes containing about 21 rebates, including a $160 Peachtree rebate that managed to slip through the cracks last month!!

What database do you guys use to track all these rebates ?;)

Folders. Since I make copies of everything anyway, I make an extra copy of the receipt and staple it together along with the copy of the upc, rebate form, etc.

I have a folder for received (payed out) rebates, one for those approved but not yet mailed, one for those approved and reported as mailed, and a couple for ones that have been mailed but that I've received no word on status yet.

That's my "database"....works for me :)

I use an Excel sheet. Has a column for how much I am expecting, how much has come in, and a description of the item/rebate. You just fill in the blanks when a check comes in, works every time. (I'm expecting around $430 this time around)

Same here, I just use 3 manilla file folders. Sent, Received, and Working On.

Just like above I staple all my copies together and put them away for the sometimes long wait.

I make a notation on the inside flap as to name of rebate, date sent, $, store, and I cross them off as they appear.

I can peruse the list easily to see what has not shown up. After 8 weeks I investigate otherwise I forget about it.

After several days of waiting, Staples called me on my online order. The 30GB was OOS, so they offered a 40Gb instead, promising the rebate would be offered. While I had her on the line, I asked about the Maxtor USB card, which she was able to add to the order. For some reason I forgot to ask about the CD-RW deal. Anyway, a few days later the stuff arrived, and the invoice showed the original 11/29 order date for everything. So a buttload of rebates went out this weekend, but I expect I'll have to call on the hard drive deal. Good thing is I found another $20 reabate on the 40GB hard drive, so hopefully that will come to about $10. :D

While doing the $63 rebate for the scanner from Staples I noticed it has 2 UPC codes. Please do not ask me about the significance of that.

My best deal? 10 wireless PCMCIA by USRobotics from Amazon for $4 each after rebate arrived (using one in my laptop now) and the rebate center has confirmed that if it does not say 1 rebate per than it is not one rebate per even though it says 'fraudulent multiple rebates are not allowed'. I did not even have to make my case that my multiple rebates are not fraudulent therefore should be allowed :) You know I am going to send this $300 rebate certified/return receipt...

Also, I paid for lots of Staples stuff with my doubled 1% cash back from my Discover. WHen you spend enough to get $20 in your cash back (I guess thats $2000:) ) from Discover then instead of requesting $20 check you may request a check for twice the amount good valid at a participating vendor of your choice. Staples participates so Discover gives you 2% back at staples. Do not forget to register your Discover with Upromise to have your purchases count towards you children education and to use your Staples customer number for cash back for your cash rewards from Staples.
