Beware of Buy.com's Offer After Checkout

NEWS FLASH: if you are smart and don't click the offer to sign-up from Buy.com, you won't have an issue.

Look before you click.

I've never had a problem with any purchase from Buy.com.

big shops will always have some issues - online or offline. The alternative is buy from small shops that make it more personal, but the prices are not as good.

There is about a page of disclaimers there so if that's not enough of a warning I don't know what is. Buy.com certainly isn't ripping you off, although I question their decision to sell what is probably a crappy product. I doubt Amazon would ever do something like that. Then again I'm surprised Buy.com is still in business.

As far as purchasing from small shops, I disagree. A big store is often more likely to take care of your problem. They don't want the bad press and one transaction is a drop in the bucket for them. I like dealing with stores like Amazon, Walmart, Costco or Home Depot because they will almost always take things back. Of course like anything you always have to choose wisely!

gsterling, it depends on the shop. We own a small business with under $100k per year in revenue and we have yet to have a complaint go unresolved. The towns are small and business is done by word of mouth. Any unresolved complaints on us would devastate our local business.

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not...I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." - Thomas Jefferson

Ha, good old TJ founded a democracy...for rich white land-owning males only while people (slaves) did his work for free. He obviuosly wasn't A) willing to work B) willing to pay someone to do his work.
